I can highly recommend Tim O’Reilly’s call for sanity, “The Fuss About Gmail and Privacy: Nine Reasons Why It’s Bogus,” in response to the recent frenzy over Google’s experimental new e-mail service. More than a response to the empty-headed media- and politically-driven hyperbole that has been flying about, O’Reilly casts a vision in which we are “making the network itself disappear into the universal virtual computer, the internet as operating system.” Fascinating. And of course, screen shots from Google are also available.
